Enamelon Preventive Treatment Gel

Recently introduced, Enamelon Treatment Gel is formulated with stabilized stannous fluoride and optimized by the addition of the remineralizing technology of amorphous Calcium Phosphate (ACP). This new home-use product has been shown effective for caries prevention, gingivitis, and/or sensitivity relief.

Enamelon is formulated with mucoadhesive co-polymers and Ultramulsion, a patented saliva-soluble coating that moisturizes and soothes oral soft tissues and helps to prevent staining. The result is a great tasting combination designed to increase substantively with a great mouth-feel.

Enamelon is the first formula to combine the protective properties of stannous fluoride at 970 ppm with the remineralizing potential of ACP technology. According to the manufacturer, Enamelon is the new standard of caring because it provides three times greater reduction in enamel solubility with twice as much fluoride uptake when compared to 5,000 ppm fluoride toothpastes. In fact, in-vitro testing showed Enamelon reduced enamel solubility by almost 57% when compared to approximately 19% reduction with the use of Clinpro, and approximately 7% for MI Paste.

This unique combination of fluoride, calcium, and phosphate ions delivers greater fluoride uptake while reducing fluoride exposure. Enamelon forms loosely bound calcium fluoride reservoirs, which are readily available for remineralization during an acid challenge. The result is preventing demineralization of the tooth surface when exposed to acids. Enamelon is safe for your entire patient population for daily use. In fact, I really appreciate the reduced size orifice for controlled dispensing, especially for kids.

Enamelon Preventive Treatment Gel has the following features and benefits:

• Stimulates saliva flow

• Moisturizes and soothes soft tissue

• Abrasive-free formula

• SLS-free formula

• Gluten free

• Dye free

You will also want to check out Enamelon Fluoride Toothpaste which contains ACP in a 1,150 ppm fluoride formulation. It contains a mild abrasive and safe for daily use, according to the manufacturer. The Joy of Flossing

I recently had the privilege of enjoying a new book by Ben Young, DDS, titled, "The Joy of Flossing!" This is a fresh look at an often misunderstood topic. Typically, patients don't appreciate our insistence that they floss. But I have to tell you that, after reading this book, I can't wait to share it with a few of my family members who don't or won't floss.

It's a fast read with some very insightful passages. For example, Dr. Young talks about the real reason for flossing. "The reason you need to floss is to support your immune system's battle with plaque." Ah ha! I've never thought of flossing in quite that way. I love it!

Why smart teenagers floss is also a subject Dr. Young addresses. He writes, "The best kissers floss. They understand that when you kiss someone else, you are not only getting acquainted with them, you are also meeting their mouth's microorganisms. Flossers have cleaner mouths and fresher breath."

You've got to read this book. Visit thejoyofflossing.com to order your copy today. Expect to pay about $6.50 for a paperback and $2.99 for a Kindle version. You can also buy in bulk to give to your patients by contacting Dr. Young at [email protected] to request bulk pricing.
