Plaque HD Toothpaste

Plaque HD is a unique toothpaste, using patented Targetol technology to identify plaque build-up on teeth. The teal color in the disclosing agents in the toothpaste turn plaque into a green color. The intent, of course, is to remind the patient to continue brushing until all the "teal colored" plaque has been removed, which, according to the manufacturer, takes about two minutes. This FDA-registered toothpaste contains annatto (Bixa orellana) seed extract dye, plus FD&C Blue No. 1, which gives the toothpaste a teal green color that adheres to plaque.

Independent studies conducted in the orthodontic department at University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry show that patients who used Plaque HD had four times as much plaque removal when compared to patients who used standard toothpaste. Participants in the independent studies were separated into two groups, with one group brushing with standard toothpaste and the second group brushing with Plaque HD. The presence of plaque on tooth surfaces was visualized by plaque-bound fluorescein, photographed, and digitally quantified to calculate the percentage of remaining plaque.

Participants using Plaque HD demonstrated a 51% reduction in plaque, while participants using standard toothpaste only demonstrated an 8.3% reduction. These results have recently been published in the International Journal of Dentistry and Oral Science. Natural tooth polish

More patients are asking for natural, vegan alternatives to traditional toothpastes. Here's one you are going to want to try and then recommend to your patients. Created by Anima Mundi Apothecary, this toothpolish is raw, living, and filled with enzymes, minerals, and probiotics in their natural state. Designed to help your body detoxify while boosting your oral ecology and cleaning your teeth, the ingredients are wildcrafted and organic.

Anima Mundi Apothecary was born out of the desire to create natural health-care formulas to support wellness and longevity. To this end, Anima Mundi crafts high potency formulas, utilizing ancient healing methods applied and studied by rainforest natives. Their formulations capture the essence of different traditions by integrating rainforest tribal botany with Chinese and Ayurveda medicine.

This tooth polish can be used in two ways, as an adjunct dental tonic or as your primary toothpaste. When using as a tonic, use once per day, preferably in the morning by placing a small dab on the tongue, adding enough water to swish for at least two minutes. When using as a replacement for traditional toothpaste, use two to three times daily by dabbing your toothbrush in the container and brushing. Before you rinse completely, swish with water for one to two minutes before spitting out.

Ingredients include bentonite clay, white clay, coconut oil, baking soda, clove extract, extra virgin olive oil, myrrh gum resin, Anima Mundi's stevia leaf extract, neem essential oil, and peppermint essential oil. You can see why the manufacturer refers to it as a "nutritional paste" to boost oral health.
