Kandyce A'see, RDH, MS Augusta, Georgia

As a student:She earned a bachelor's in biology at South Carolina State University in 2002. She completed a bachelor's in dental hygiene at Georgia Regents University in 2007, and added a Master's in allied health from Georgia Regents in 2011.

On a daily basis:For the last five years, she has been an assistant professor in the department of dental hygiene at Georgia Regents University, treating patients in faculty practice for a half-day each week at the university. "I am extremely passionate about sharing my education and what I have learned about the field of dental hygiene with my students. I love to see them succeed, and I get overjoyed to see the light bulb go on when they see the big picture. Educating future dental hygienists, and helping them realize they are not teeth scrapers but are health-care providers and prevention experts, is what drives me daily."

About Kandyce:Her husband, Carl, and their son, Robert, enjoy living in the Augusta community. "In my spare time I like to dabble in photography, volunteer in my community, and spend time with my family. I have also written a children's book called 'The Tooth Tickler' about a little girl's first trip to have her teeth cleaned. I enjoy visiting elementary schools and community events to read my book to children."
