Dental Insurance Coding Handbook-2000

March 1, 2001

Many dentists wish they could do away with dealing with insurance companies altogether, but it is a fact of life that many patients rely on insurance to help them pay for the treatment they need. Even if the office does not accept insurance payment directly, providing patients with the information they require to file their own claims is difficult. That is where this handbook comes in.

Much more than just codes and definitions, the "user-friendly" information in this manual can help your office speed up insurance reimbursement, reduce requests for "more information" and decrease payment delays. Set up like a reference book with a binder that features section guides for each type of treatment (restorative, endo, perio, etc.) this manual makes finding codes quick and easy.

The manual has charting and coordination of benefits tips as well as information on attachments: what to use, when to use, and how to use. It even features a section on treatment estimates and how to talk to patients about their coverage.

The handbook was written by Carol Tekavec, RDH, a monthly Dental Economics` columnist on insurance.
