GC America expands manufacturing facility
ALSIP, Illinois--A groundbreaking ceremony to announce a GC America expansion and renovation project was held Oct. 22, 2009, in Alsip.
GC America is expanding its manufacturing facility by 25% to 100,000 square feet. The new facility will include a manufacturing plant.
Several dignitaries were on hand. They included Alsip Mayor Patrick Kitching, Building Commissioner Mike Spongberg, State of Illinois Senator Edward Maloney, GC Corporation President and CEO Makoto Nakao, GC Corporation Director of International Department Dr. Kiyotaka Nakao, Director of International Business Dr. Jurgen Eberlein, and GC America President and COO Yutaka Suzuki.
GC Corporation (GCC) is transplanting one of its manufacturing plants from Japan to Alsip. The move should not only increase production in the United States, but also expand employment opportunities directly and indirectly.
"When other companies are moving manufacturing offshore, this transplant is a show of confidence in GCC's U.S. subsidiary," said Carolyn Van Eck, GCA vice-president and CFO.
This move sets the stage for future growth and expansion of GCA as a U.S. dental manufacturer.
