Approximately 60 percent of dental hygienists have received a raise within the last 12 months, according to a similar survey in the November issue of RDH eVillage. But the magazine’s survey encountered plenty of comments about the nation’s soft economy among the 1,202 responses from all 50 states.
One reader, for example, said, “I feel that hygienists in the area where I work are capped out on salaries. At my current position, we used to receive a percentage of our salary in a profit-sharing plan that was managed by the doctor. With the soft economy, we lost more than the amount we contributed this past year. This additional investment was his reason for our not receiving annual raises. In fact, our wages have actually lowered for the current year.”
