As a student: She graduated from Central Georgia Technical College in 2005. "I wanted to help people by doing something in the health-care field after serving in the U.S. Army Reserves for eight years. A relative in Ohio is a hygienist and she sold me on the profession. I always felt as though I had a little teacher inside of me. This was a way to teach and work in health care."

On a daily basis: She has practiced dental hygiene at Northside Family Dentistry in Macon since 2007. "I love contributing to my patients' confidence one smile at a time. I enjoy educating patients on how they can improve their oral health, which is linked to their overall health. I help patients take ownership in their dental health." She currently serves as president of the Central District Dental Hygienists' Society, and she is the treasurer of the Georgia Dental Hygienists' Association.

About Tomeka: She married Eric Fed in 2012, and the couple have a pet beagle, Neco. "I love to travel! I'm always interested in new adventures. Any vacation, no matter how short or how long, is a luxury to me. I work hard so I definitely like to play hard."
