Steri-Oss announces its exclusive North American distributorship of Pocket Watch, a preprobing chairside test that identifies sites at high risk for periodontal disease.

- Pocket Watch uses paper strips that are inserted into the gingival sulcus and then placed into a test well. Within 10 minutes, color variation in the wells reveal the presence of apartate amino-transferase (AST) in the gingival crevicular fluid.

- Pocket Watch is intended to be used as an objective, biochemical adjunct to traditional methods of diagnosing and monitoring patients.

- The product is manufactured by Pacific Pharmaceuticals in San Diego.

- For more information, contact Steri-Oss at (800) 322-5001.
