I like the map below. Family members would say, “That's like telling me you like to watch football games on TV.” They know I'm a sucker for studying maps. I will spread a map out on a table and study it very intently for ... well, I won't say hours, but definitely for many minutes.
The map below was originally created for the September 2006 issue, and it depicted the first 40 recipients of the annual Sunstar/RDH Award of Distinction. Now, of course, there are 56 recipients on the map (actually 55; Beth McKinney of Washington, D.C., had to miss the cover photo shoot in 2005 due to illness).
Another deadline for the award is coming up — March 31st (see ad on page 75 for information on submitting an application). I have to go now. I want to study this map some more. See how quite a few states have never had a recipients. Are there any good hygienists there?
