The John O. Butler Company, in conjunction with parent company Sunstar, have released a groundbreaking 70-page compendium of clinical abstracts presented at the University of Chapel Hill Dental Health Symposium in March 1997.

- Titled "Periodontal Diseases and Human Health," the book summarizes the findings of 30 researchers who indicate some forms of severe periodontal disease may be risk factors for serious systemic diseases and conditions.

- Through the exploration of the connections between periodontal diseases and their impact on systemic diseases, the abstracts provide dental professionals with the research necessary to help recognize the causal relationships that exist between oral diseases and the whole-body health of their patients.

- Some of the abstracts presented include: oral inflammation associated with pregnancy complications, epidemiological and microbial connections between oral and systemic conditions and periodontal infections and the associated risk of cardiovascular disease.

- The compendium is free to dental professionals. For details or to receive a complimentary copy, call the John O. Butler Company at (800) JBUTLER and ask for the Sunstar-Chapel Hill Abstracts.
