Dear RDH:
I am proud to be one of the volunteer dental hygienists who fought for preceptorship at the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1978.
We should have respect. We worked and studied for our license too! We also pay to renew our license. We have to take continuing education courses. We have had sociology, speech, psychology, lab, etc. ? the same as everyone else.
Patients don?t ask for degrees. It?s your knowledge on taking care of them and the oral health community as a whole.
