Dear RDH:

I am writing in response to the letter written by Susan Lanius, RDH (June 1996 RDH). I also agree that dental hygienists should be allowed to practice in any state no matter what state their license is from, especially if that hygienist has several years of experience.

It doesn`t make sense that the license of a registered nurse is transferrable in almost every state without passing any new state boards. Their duties require them to practice far more invasive procedures than any hygienist.

I think the whole thing is ridiculous and would love to see a national license for dental hygienists.
