The laughter generated in the photo above was during a Keynote Session led by Jeanne Robertson (top left). The North Carolina humorist reminded dental hygienists at the RDH Under One Roof conference in Orlando, Fla., that humor does have a role in dental operatories.
Gail Stoops, RDH (center left), and Jackie Sanders, RDH (bottom left), also delivered presentations during the Keynote Session on Aug. 6. Stoops, the senior manager of professional relations for Philips Sonicare (which sponsored the Keynote Session), delivered an inspirational speech about the positive qualities of dental hygienists. Sanders, an associate marketing manager with Sunstar Americas, introduced the 2010 recipients of the Sunstar/RDH Award of Distinction (who were profiled in September 2010 RDH).
RDH Under One Roof 2010 was hosted at Walt Disney World on Aug. 5-7, and 950 dental hygienists participated, earning continuing education credits from a variety of seminars.
Dental hygienists also spent time in the conference's exhibit hall (top right), which featured 95 booths hosted by dental companies. One exhibitor, Philips Sonicare, allowed attendees to "pose" for RDH magazine's cover (center right). Hygienists stood next to the green screen, and an onsite printer provided a copy of the photograph featuring the graphic elements associated with the magazine's cover.
A variety of sponsors also hosted receptions and meals. The American Dental Hygienists' Association, for example, hosted a morning coffee break (lower right).
RDH Under One Roof returns to Chicago in 2011, setting up at the Hyatt Regency on July 28-30.
