Sherry Hurley, RDH, is a native of Las Vegas and is the youngest of 12 children. She has an identical twin, and both attended the College of Southern Nevada. Her twin sister, Sandy, practices dental hygiene in Seattle.
Sherry relocated to the Sacramento area to follow her fiance's job. She is employed in the practice of Dr. Gregory Taylor in El Dorado Hills, CA, and Dr. Derek Kolander in Fair Oaks, CA.
When asked what she has enjoyed about her career, she replied, “The patients! I mean, I met my soul mate while cleaning his teeth! I love that I get to interact with all different types of patients all day long. I really feel by the end of the day that I have learned so much just by listening to all of the stories my patients tell me. I used to be really shy, but I found that now I can easily hold a conversation with anyone.”
Her engagement to Rob Stoltz will culminate with a wedding ceremony this summer.
The couple have three dogs: a 12–year–old Australian Shepherd, Dakota; a four–year–old Weimaraner, Pepper; and a three–year–old pit bull mix, Lucky. The latter was rescued.
“Lucky was found in the desert, dying, and we nursed her back to health, fell in love with her, and adopted her.”
The couple have also traveled to Europe, North Africa, Central America, Canada, the Caribbean, Alaska, and Mexico during the past two years.
