Earlier this year, PennWell Corporation was acquired by a private equity firm through the UK-based Clarion Events. In June, company leadership announced a significant restructuring effort of PennWell’s employees around the world. Mark Hartley, editor of RDH magazine, was among those whose positions were eliminated.
Mark’s position as editor went back to the mid-1990s, and during those years of experience with the dental hygiene market he established himself as a conduit between hygienists across the country. As the group publisher for PennWell, I want to recognize Mark’s years of contributions to the betterment of the dental hygiene profession. His journalistic work and advocacy for the dental hygiene profession will be missed.
In order for RDH to continue to be a leader in the dental hygiene community, I have formed an editorial advisory committee comprised of practicing dental hygienists. This group will work on an ongoing basis with our editorial staff to provide relevant content and develop new contributors. We have already had numerous meetings to map out our new direction. We began with content planning for the remainder of 2018 and then created a 2019 editorial calendar based on input from both our readers and our advisors. In this transition time for RDH, we will strive to uphold the editorial values upon which we have built our reputation. This includes editorial honesty and integrity.
