I used to think I had ultrasonics figured out. Flip it on, set a comfortable power, adapt the tip, done. I was efficient. My patients tolerated it. I felt confident.
Then one day during a calibration exercise, I watched a colleague treat the exact same patient I had just finished and I realized I had been leaving deposits behind that I was completely certain weren't there.
That moment was humbling. And it changed the way I approached every instrument in my hand from that day forward. That's exactly what this month's conversations were all about.
In this issue, we talk with the team behind modern ultrasonics, Noel and Rich Paschke, for an in-depth look at how this technology works and some serious myth-busting.
