I used to think I had ultrasonics figured out. Flip it on, set a comfortable power, adapt the tip, done. I was efficient. My patients tolerated it. I felt confident.

Then one day during a calibration exercise, I watched a colleague treat the exact same patient I had just finished and I realized I had been leaving deposits behind that I was completely certain weren't there. 

That moment was humbling. And it changed the way I approached every instrument in my hand from that day forward. That's exactly what this month's conversations were all about.
