"Gentle, thorough, and always with a smile"

Oct. 11, 2022
Elizabeth David recently impressed a 40-year hygienist with her "best cleaning ever." She isn't the only patient to sing Elizabeth's praises.

Each week the RDH PIRA (Patient Impact & Rise Above) recognition program, sponsored by Water Pik, Inc., features a dental hygiene clinician who excels in his or her role and goes the extra mile. The past two and a half years have been a challenge for many clinicians and as we return to the operatory, we want to acknowledge those who provide patient care—clinicians who are changing their patients’ lives, influencing their patients’ health, and making a difference every day. This week we honor Elizabeth David, RDH.

Elizabeth David was nominated by a colleague who had plenty of nice things to say about her. “Elizabeth takes pride in her work, greets patients with a smile, and is positive throughout her day. A retired hygienist of over 40 years recently had her teeth cleaned by Elizabeth and said it was the best cleaning she’d ever had. She was very impressed with Elizabeth's gentleness and thoroughness.

A one-of-a-kind dental hygienist
"A picture-perfect, rare gem of an RDH"

"Many patients comment on how wonderfully Elizabeth performs their dental care, and she strives to help them achieve lifelong health. She encourages periodontal patients to continue with their home care and makes sure they schedule their three-month follow-up visits. Blood pressure screenings are done regularly for patients and her clinical notes are top notch.

“Elizabeth has great insights to help organize and make the office run more efficiently, and she closely follows OSHA, HIPAA, and CPR protocol. She never complains and readily helps other staff members with their questions. Elizabeth is always ready to learn, especially from our boss, Dr. Tim Moore, and she demonstrates great decision making. My colleague shows great love for what she does every day and is a true example of what an RDH should be!”

Elizabeth herself says she enjoys constantly learning what's new in dental hygiene and making a difference in patients' oral health. "I pride myself on being thorough, gentle, and professional. I am compassionate and take the time to get to know patients to better serve and educate them in a more personal way."
