The proverbial "when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail" statement has never been more relevant than it is in 21st century management of diseases of the periodontium. As prevalence trends identify increasing levels of gingival and periodontal diseases across our communities, dentistry is called upon to develop a deeper [pun intended] consideration for disease management and control. With new data emerging, dentistry is beginning to understand that management of periodontal diseases extends beyond biofilm disruption extends via mechanical removal and is well supported through host modulation therapies aimed to optimize immune support.

Known as “The Dental Resultant”, Katrina is a dental hygiene consultant focused at high-level standards, excellence and production.
