Quantum Dental Technologies introduced The Canary System to U.S. dental hygienists at the 2013
Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting. The Canary System's technology is for the detection and monitoring of dental caries without the need for dental X-rays. The system uses a combination of photothermal radiometry and luminescence technology (PTR-LUM) to identify and measure tooth decay. The system's handheld laser emits a low-power, pulsating light to collect data, identifying carious lesions as deep as 5mm below the tooth surface and as small as 50 microns in size.
Septodont recently introduced the Toothfairy BPA-free pit and fissure sealant. The resin-based, light-cured sealant is white opaque to help identify its retention at recall appointments. Toothfairy is also non-toxic and has a high polymerization conversion, which cures quickly to a hard and retentive sealant.
Colgate Oral Pharmaceuticals recently introduced PreviDent 5000 Booster Plus, the latest addition to the prescription-only PreviDent home fluorides portfolio. Colgate PreviDent 5000 Booster Plus is ideal for high-risk caries patients since it contains 1.1% sodium fluoride (5,000 ppm), FluoriGard technology, and tricalcium phosphate. FluoriGard technology is an optimized fluoride delivery system that produces a temporary shift in pH, a condition that favors remineralization and fluoride uptake in the oral cavity.
