National boards. Regional boards. The state licensing board exam. Specialty boards. At some point in their careers, all hygienists have taken them - or been taken by them! What was your experience taking a hygiene state board or clinical licensing exam?
What are the different board exams you have taken throughout your career? How well did hygiene school prepare you for the exam(s)?
When exam day finally arrived, what was the best thing about it? What was the worst thing? What was the funniest, saddest, most exasperating, or most frustrating thing that happened? Did you oversleep, for example? The car wouldn`t start? Your patient didn`t show up? You put your uniform on backwards?
In remembering these pressure-packed, high-anxiety exams, what would you advise graduating students, out-of-state transfers, or hygienists returning to the profession about preparing to take (or retake) the clinical boards?
