In a time of economic worry and many companies considering a pullback from marketing and developing new ideas, Dr. Bob Clark forged ahead with his dream and has carved out a product category and niche.

In 2011, Dr. Clark launched DrQuickLook™, and the product has been featured by many industry publications and hailed as a revolutionary idea that can change the way dentists present cases.

"So many of us have said that we've seen it all and done it all and there's nothing new in dentistry," Dr. Clark said. "I just don't think that's true. Every month, I would look through the dental magazines for something like this (DrQuickLook) because this was an invention that I thought someone else would create. I finally decided to do it myself."

DrQuickLook is not a standard intraoral camera as it does not save images. Priced at less than $1,000, it is an "intraoral viewer" that shows the patient the inside of his or her mouth, giving the patient and dentist the same view.

"Patients can hold this in their hands and there's never any question about what problems the dentist is seeing because the patient is seeing it as well," Dr. Clark said. "You always want to get patients involved with their treatment. With this, they understand what is being said and they understand that's it is a problem. Then, they want treatment. Patients aren't sheep any more. They want to see for themselves that there is a problem."

Part of the success of DrQuickLook is the relationships that have been developed with dsitribution partners throughout the country.

"We've found that salespeople have been able to get dentists interested in the product by explaining how it sells dentistry and commits the patient to further care," Dr. Clark said. "This makes dental care very personal to the patient. They become a part of the process, and that makes a huge difference in their minds."
