A toothbrush for the new millennium - featuring a wide handle with a rotating flexible head - was unveiled recently by The Smartbrush Corporation.

- "Our mouths are rounded or curved, not square," says SmartBrush™ creator, Dr. F. M. Butler Jr., a retired Georgia periodontist.

- A wire is embedded in the SmartBrush™ stem and head, making it completely adjustable. In addition, the brush rotates to exact 45-degree angles, which is the recommended method of brushing.

- The professional-grade SmartBrush™ will be sold exclusively through dental professionals, and the cost (direct to the consumer) will be $3.54 - $4.25, depending on the quantity purchased. A companion BrushGuard, to keep bacteria away while keeping the bristles straight, also will be available for patient purchase in the $2 - $3 range. BrushGuard fits almost all standard manual toothbrushes on the market. SmartBrush™ will be available to dental professionals early this month.
