Ultradent promotes smiles, not hate

The Smiles Against Hate™ program was launched during a news conference at the Four Seasons Hotel near Chicago`s famed Water Tower. The news conference, which coincided with the Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting, launched an initiative for addressing the growing number of hate crimes within the United States and beyond. Smiles Against Hate™ is the brainchild of Dr. Dan Fischer, founder, president, and chief executive officer of Ultradent Products. The program is a combined effort of Ultradent and the REACH (Representing Ethnic and Cultural Heritage) Center, a non-profit agency in the Pacific Northwest.

"It`s not enough to simply tolerate individuals - it`s about respecting individuals, loving humanity and life itself," Fischer said. "Our nation as a whole is about progress and developing a greater quality of life for ourselves and our families. We`ve progressed too far to let these barbaric hate crimes and growing intolerance plague our society. It`s past time for us to act."

"We know that the time for social action is before the seeds of hate are planted," said Gary Howard, founder and president of the REACH Center. "We`re excited about working together with Ultradent. We share the same vision of creating a social environment where all humans are respected for their cultural uniqueness and individuality."

"Dentistry is the perfect profession to start this movement," Fischer added. "In dentistry, we know that a hybrid is often stronger than materials that are not. Diversity is here to stay in this country."
