Barbara Tritz, MSB, BSDATE, BRDH, explains how she has developed a next-level biological course over the last year with biological dental hygienists Fran Horning and Kathryn Gilliam. Their event is called Boost OHI (Oral Health Institute).

Here, Barbara talks about the fact that the root causes of dental disease are often not in the mouth but in the body. Periodontal disease and tooth decay are systemic issues focused in the mouth. Barbara’s quest is how do we heal our patients once and for all. She says dental hygiene needs to be so much more than the treadmill of scraping teeth. It’s a call for hygienists to own it … to provide more time for their patients and share the information of salivary diagnostics.
