A woman with many hats

Dental hygienists juggle many jobs, both in and out of practice. This RDH shares how she juggles many personal and professional responsibilities.

Jackie chats with Shelley Brown, one of the 2025 GUM/RDH Award of Distinction winners. While Shelley was recognized for public health and her work with the underserved and homebound, she wears many other hats: speaker, writer, adjunct professor, mom, and more.

Many readers may know Shelley as a cofounder of Hygiene Edge as well. How does she juggle it all? "Lots of prayers," she quips. Here's an inside look as Shelley shares her tips for doing all things she loves, and how you can apply some of her ideas to your busy life.
