A favorite of both students and fellow faculty

Aug. 22, 2022
When asked if she'd ever considered teaching, Erin Relich didn't want to give up clinical practice. So she found the best of both worlds.

Each week the RDH PIRA (Patient Impact & Rise Above) recognition program, sponsored by Water Pik, Inc., features a dental hygiene clinician who excels in his or her role and goes the extra mile. The past two years have been a challenge for many clinicians and as we return to the operatory, we want to acknowledge those who provide patient care—clinicians who are changing their patients’ lives, influencing their patients’ health, and making a difference every day. This week we honor Erin Relich, RDH.

Why her colleagues admire Erin

"Erin Relich, RDH, is an exceptional clinician! She truly cares about her patients, and she shows it by individualizing her treatment plans to meet each patient in whatever stage of health they’re in. Rather than judge, she educates. She is a team player and a leader in whatever she does."

"Early in her career, someone asked Erin if she’d ever thought about becoming an educator. She did not want to quit private practice, so she started as a part-time adjunct faculty at her alma mater, the University of Michigan. It didn’t take long for her to become a favorite of both students and faculty due to her generous and supportive nature. She truly wants everyone to succeed."
