Melissa Calhoun, MSDH, RDH, talks with Jackie Sanders, MBA, RDH, about understanding different OTC mouthwash ingredients and their impact on patient recommendations.

It's one thing to educate patients on the benefits of mouthrinses, but how do they know what to look for? How do you direct your patients to find the right mouthrinse? Melissa says the key to making the right recommendation is encouraging her patients to "look at the back of the bottle. Fronts of the bottles will have a lot of words ... but really, you want to look at the back [at] the active and key ingredients. Those are the ingredients that are going to do the work."
