RDH Clinical Recognition Program: Tana Spencer

The July RDH Clinical Recognition Program honoree loves her profession, and she advises her peers to take part in the ADHA and continue their education in the field.

Tana Spencer spent several years in the dental field before becoming a dental hygienist 20 years ago. She practices in Oregon and never tires of her profession.

How does she keep it fresh? She's a member of the ADHA, and said that dental publications also offer plenty of new information and educational opportunities for dental hygienists.

Tana regularly steps out of her comfort zone to serve as a volunteer in an oncology unit. She said it feels like a natural fit for RDHs since cancer affects people's oral health. She has the oral health discussion with patients as they're undergoing treatment and feels she's making a real difference during this difficult time for them.

She highly recommends including oral cancer screenings as a part of your hygiene appointments.

Nominate yourself or someone you think deserves this recognition today!
