As a student: She is a 2005 graduate from Georgia Perimeter College. "I was trained as a dental assistant when I was 19 and fell in love with dentistry. It did not take long for me to decide to pursue a career in dental hygiene."

On a daily basis: After 13 years in general dentistry, she now works in a periodontal practice -- Dr. Charles Felts at Periodontal Associates of Chattanooga. "I love the patients. I have had the opportunity to really know my patients and their families. I also enjoy educating my patients about their oral health. It is always rewarding to see improvements in patients' oral health." Later this spring, she will complete a bachelor's degree program at Clayton State University as she continues her goal of becoming a dental hygiene instructor.

About Jessica: Her husband, Chad, "gave me that final boost of support that prompted me to go back to school last year." The couple have a dog, Moses, and "we love doing anything outdoors. We actually met because of our mutual love for hiking and camping. I also enjoy running and competing in triathlons."
