Dear RDH:

Thank you so much for publishing my letter in the March 1996 issue. I have received 20 responses so far. I`m shocked to learn how widespread work-related injuries are in the field of dental hygiene.

The most valuable letter I received told me about the Hygienists` Pain Network. I spoke with its founder, Carol Coady, and learned that they have a membership of around 300. Several of the people who responded to my request for help and information stated that they have similar problems. They requested that I share what information that I gather with them. I referred them to the Hygienists` Pain Network.

There is a significant number of hygienists with repetitive strain and work-related injuries who need the support of other hygienists with similar problems. We can exchange information and try to put together the pieces of what appears to be a puzzle to the many hygienists who, like myself, thought that we were alone and did not know where to turn.

I feel that you would be doing hygienists a great service if you would provide them with the name and address of this much needed network.

Editor`s note: The address for the Hygienists` Pain Network is P.O. Box 24, Paradise, CA 95967.
