From the shores of Lake Erie in New York, Tammy Shaw poses for this issue of RDH. Yes, it was a very foggy evening at the Erie Basin Marina when the photos were taken.

Make no mistake about it, Buffalo is in her blood. Tammy was, after all, a cheerleader for the NFL’s Buffalo Bills in 1994, 1995, and 2002.

Shaw, a 2000 graduate of the dental hygiene program at Erie Community College, works in the dental practice of Dr. Charles Schwach in the Buffalo suburb of Lancaster. She still does temporary work at the office of Dr. Mary Ricotta, who inspired Tammy to enter dental hygiene.

“I do a lot of volunteer work for charities and I have for many years,” Shaw said. “Presently I am taking Tai Chi at the Buffalo Taoist Tai Chi Society. I absolutely love it and it really helps to stretch out my spine so that my back doesn’t hurt after working all day.”

A single mother, her passion is her 16-year-old son, Dominic. Her son recently filmed some scenes in the upcoming film “Buffalo Bushido,” portraying the son of the Jesse L. Martin’s (a longtime Law & Order regular) character in the movie.

“My son and I are best friends and we do everything together,” she said. “I bought my first home here in Buffalo three years ago, and I have no plans to leave here anytime soon. I am a huge Buffalo Bills fan, Buffalo Sabers fan, and New York Yankees fan.”
