According to Michael Sharp, vice president of technology, traditional, thin periodontal inserts are designed primarily for low-power plaque debridement.

In contrast, the Burnett Power-Tip has been engineered to remove the kind of tenacious calculus often encountered at a perio-patient`s initial appointment. It reportedly delivers as much as 70 percent more power than a traditional subgingival tip.

The Power-Tip is longer (to reach the bottom of deep pockets) and, unlike traditional perio tips (which should not be used at scaling powers greater than the "medium" setting), the Power-Tip can be used at full power.

Designed based on input from a respected authority in ultrasonic technique, the Burnett Power-Tip can be used both supra- and subgingivally to reduce the need to constantly switch inserts.
