Melissa Calhoun will be presenting an educator workshop at RDH Under One Roof on how various teaching methodologies are used to teach pharmacology. She aims to avoid “death by PowerPoint” sessions and instead uses team-based, engaged learning.

The psychology of the student today is different than it used to be. Students need more active learning and critical thinking. Melissa makes use of interactive games (like Dominos and others) to help her students learn pharmacology. Is there pressure on educators to gamify education? Melissa says yes. Students are looking for different ways to learn, because everyone learns differently.
