Parkell recently published a new brochure discussing proper use of high-power slim ultrasonic tips.

According to Parkell, traditional slim tips have a narrow ultrasonic stroke. In order to reduce breakage, they must never be used above the scaler`s "medium" power setting. This reduces the tip`s effectiveness in removing tenacious calculus.

The new Burnett Power-Tip has a significantly broader stroke than other slim inserts. With its greater scaling power comes the potential for patient sensitivity and reduced operator control. The brochure discusses applications of the Power-Tip and how to use it without causing sensitivity.
