Like many trends, nicotine pouches are being promoted on social media and elsewhere. As a result, dental professionals may notice an increase in their use among patients, says Alyssa Day. She developed an interest in this relative new and often unaddressed product as she saw more patients trying out nicotine pouches.

Dental hygienists have always stayed abreast of the latest tobacco, nicotine, vaping, etc. products, which are ever evolving, how they affect oral health, and how we can respond. It takes all of us—and our interests and specialties—to share what we've learned with each other so we can better treat patients.

If you aren't familiar with nicotine pouches yet, now is the time learn about them. Tune in to our discussion and find out what they are and how to talk to your patients who might be using them.
