Sarah Hoerler's advice to her fellow dental hygienists? Don't turn down opportunities that come your way, even the least expected ones.

Her path led her from clinical practice, to education, to the Mayo Clinic. She never expected to become assistant professor of dentistry at Mayo, and is thrilled she agreed to apply for the position.

Sarah spends four days as a Mayo Clinic dental hygienist, and spends Fridays with hygiene students. She could not be happier in her career, and recommends that her peers give serious thought to the opportunities that come their way. One may be the perfect fit!
